Many people can quote from memory a familiar scripture, that all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God; Romans 3:23. The following verses go on to explain that people who have sinned are justified by grace through redemption that came through the sacrifice of the Messiah. Explaining the Father sent his Son to redeem the sins of humans so that humans could be justified if they have faith in the Messiah.
Rom 3:23-26
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
NIV
These verses have been quoted by Christian ministers, theologians, scholars, and others to claim that Christian believers in the Messiah, as a sacrifice for the sins of humans, no longer need to obey the laws given in the Scriptures, in the Old Testament, are no longer valid for Christian believers.
However, just a few verses later the author of the verses in Romans, believed to be the apostle Paul, makes a statement that seems to contradict the teaching the laws of the almighty creator are no longer necessary for Christian believers.
Rom 3:27-31
27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith. 28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. 29 Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. 31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.
NIV
Why does it matter about sin?
If all people have sinned why does the definition sin matter? Each person at some point in life probably asks themselves what happens when death of their physical body occurs. Many have some superficial knowledge of the Bible scriptures; however, most don’t spend much time intently studying the scriptures and somehow don’t feel the need to understand the scriptures. People have heard that they may burn in eternal torment after their death, but that seems to be a teaching that has lost its importance in the modern age of understanding insightful or not.
Many are absorbed in the daily tasks necessary just to keep resources available to them and their families to live a tolerable life and to protect themselves from harm that can come from unknown sources. Even in the U.S. where the standard of living for it citizens are high, when compared to most other countries, some people struggle to live and pay their bills, not to mention feeding, protecting and caring for their families.
The history of the nations divulged that there have always been war, sickness and climatic disasters that ruin change or end the lives of many humans. The world can be a very dangerous place especially in countries that are not within the sphere of western civilizations that seem most able to protect their populations. Even now with the technologically advanced countries are even today finding it difficult to protect against terrorists and citizen radicals whom are intent upon inflicting damage, harm and even death to others for no other reason, other than deeply felt hatred.
Individual acts of violence seem to be on the increase, and even when there are few major wars involving entire continents, there is turmoil throughout the world resulting in injury and death to tens of thousands each year. While world leaders talk of peace and harmony and claim to advance programs to stop the disagreements among people, their efforts appear to be failing. Why?
The answer has many reasons; however, they can all be attributed to one basic tenet.
Just like many inhabitants of the world, now and the past, world leaders, politicians, government bureaucrats have been proven to be corrupt and selfish. History also has shown that not only government leaders are corrupt, but also religious, business and education leaders are also corrupt, selfish and evil. This is not a recent occurrence; corruption, selfishness, and evil have taken place throughout history. What is the single reason people are corrupt, selfish and evil?
The single reason the world is corrupt with much evil occurring.
Warmongers such as Alexander the Great, Napoleon, Genghis Khan, Hitler, and others have used the power of persuasion, greed, and fear to build armies to invade other nations to subjugate, eradicate and/or dominate other peoples. Yet, these warmongers have been described as great men by scholars, historians, and ordinary citizens. Some of these corrupt warmongers have even sought to deify themselves, such as the Emperors of the Roman Empire being a prime example. Their followers and subjects idolized the arrogant, selfish, evil leaders, why?
Today people seem to be just as foolish as their ancestors and are still idolizing political, religious, military, scholarly business, athletes and others having positions of prominence.
There are many examples of well-known people who have made serious errors in judgment and not only made damaging mistakes for themselves; they have caused others to be harmed by their errors. If a leader of a nation decides to attack another nation for whatever reason, most likely many people are going to be hurt or die. National leaders who use deceit, lies and surreptitious methods to gain or retain power, causing many people to likely suffer and /or die. Joseph Stalin was a glaring example of how millions died because of his evil, deadly purges of those he suspected of being a threat to his position of power. Stalin witnessed and probably learned some of his deadly techniques from his mentor Vladimir Lenin. These two government leaders were responsible for millions of deaths of their nation’s population. These were truly evil people, yet many idolized them and obeyed their orders and aided them in committing their deadly acts.
Surely there can be no God, or the murder and torture of millions of people throughout known history would not have been allowed to continue. If there were sin, these heinous acts of killing, maiming and taking people’s goods and property is the epitome of grievous sin. If there were a true just loving God as religious leaders proclaim why would he allow such evil leaders as Lenin and Stalin to kill so many people; not to mention all the other evil leaders in history that committed similar acts. Even Herod the Great was corrupt and evil, having newborn baby boys killed because he feared they could be a threat to his power if the scriptures can be believed.
Is murder a Sin?
Many people would answer that murder is a sin along with stealing, lying, swearing, greed, selfishness, anger, lust, and adultery. Where does the concept of sin originate and why are these things a sin? Also, is sin really bad and if people think sin is bad, why is it bad? When the items that people think are sins, they tend to harm another when they are committed. If murder, theft, and adultery are committed, most likely someone is hurt or damaged, physically or mentally. Overcharging someone for goods or services usually means someone is cheated out of something either money, goods or services. The cheater has enriched themselves at the expense of another. When a trader on Wall Street uses insider information to buy or sell stocks, they steal the opportunity for a fair and even profit from other traders. Cheating and stealing have been occurring ever since history has recorded it and likely before.
Societies have developed laws to prohibit actions considered harmful to others, and most of these laws are designed to punish the lawbreakers in the eyes of most people. However, people in positions of power have used laws to unjustly harm others and in extreme cases take their possessions and even their lives. So then, sin is not just breaking laws it is the action of harming others unjustly.
What is justice?
The process or result of using laws to fairly judge and punish crimes and criminals
The above definition is taken from the Webster Dictionary, but can a crime be punished as stated above or are the criminals the ones to be punished?
Criminals are people who break the laws of man.
How do the scriptures, supposedly the words of the Mighty Creator define sin?
1 John 3:4
4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness
NIV
Earth is no accident.
Many people believe that the world and the life on Earth is just a product of evolution and that people are the highest form of life, responsible only to themselves. They ignore the scientific evidence indicating all things in the Universe are based on mathematical formulas that can only be based on extremely high intelligence. Read YNCA’s article, “Proofs of the Creator.” Even with men trying to examine the secret of creation and life, they only know a few of the mathematical formulas that logically create, form and control all matter that exist. Some people are just now beginning to realize that there may exist more than one Universe and they may be parallel to one another. Just give that some thought, humans could be surrounded by another Universe inhabited by beings that humans can’t see but, can be seen by these beings that surround our known Universe. Ever wonder about the verses in the Bible that seem to indicate that an all-powerful higher being can call upon legions of beings not physically human to appear on the earth?
Luke 2:13-14
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
NIV
John 21:14
This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.
NIV
2 Kings 6:17
17 And Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes so he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
NIV
Yahweh Elohim is the Supreme Being that makes claim to being the Creator of all things, and he has put that claim into writing for the worlds’ inhabitants to read in the Scriptures. The Scriptures have been put into a book called the Bible. the English version is the most widely read book ever written.
In the scriptures, Yahweh has given humans laws that must be kept if they want to be accepted into the coming Kingdom of Yahweh. There are several obstacles preventing people from comprehending the complete understanding of the Scriptures. Read YNCA’s article, “The Biggest Lie Ever Told is in the Bible.”
The Scriptures use the Tribes of Israel as an example of what occurs if the laws of Yahweh are disobeyed, which is sin. Read YNCA’s article, “Why is Israel so Important in the Scriptures?”
Most of the population of the world does not understand why the Tribes of Israel are scattered throughout the nations of the world, and one of the Tribes is the strongest nation in the world just as prophesied in the scriptures.
The scriptures also prophesize that the world is about to experience a colossal terrible war that will begin in Israel and spread quickly and throughout the entire world, it will have devastating and disastrous effects on the population of the Earth, most of which will die.
Isa 13:9-12
9 See, the day of the Lord is coming — a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger —
to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it. 10 The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light.
11 I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless.
12 I will make man scarcer than pure gold, more rare than the gold of Ophir.
NIV
Isa 24:3-6
The earth will be completely laid waste and totally plundered.
The Lord has spoken this word.
4 The earth dries up and withers, the world languishes and withers, the exalted of the earth languish.
5 The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes
and broken the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore a curse consumes the earth;
its people must bear their guilt. Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up,
and very few are left.
NIV
Why is Sin Important?
Yahweh Elohim made the Earth, its contents, and all creation. He made the laws, both for the control and order of the Universe we know and others we don’t know. He has given humans the laws to obey if they desire to live forever in peace. If humans disobey the laws of Yahweh and reject the acceptance of His Son, they will die forever. They don’t burn eternally in fire as popular religions teach and have taught. Each physical human must die once, but some will be resurrected to live forever. Those that are wicked and sin in disobedience to Yahweh Elohim will die a second time, and it will be permanent. Read
YNCA’s article “The Wicked Identified and Their Coming Fate.”
Heb 9:27-28
7 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
NIV
2 Peter 3:3-7
3 First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word, the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the Day of Judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
NIV
Rev 21:8
8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars — their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.
NIV
The words of Yahweh written in the scriptures clearly describe sin and why Yahweh Elohim wants humans not to sin. The scriptures also clearly describe what will happen to people who willfully sin and will not change their ways.
The scriptures predict many humans will not obey Yahweh because they think they are wise even though they are ignorant of the scriptures and the laws of Yahweh. The scriptures predict humans will have deluded themselves into believing there are no consequences or penalty for their sins. Humans will live their lives as they desire, not caring about the effects their actions have on others. They will choose to ignore or understand that Yahweh will not allow selfish, arrogant, prideful people who don’t care that their selfish actions are detrimental and harmful to others into his coming Kingdom.
Many will be surprised to learn they will be separated from existence forever. They will no longer be allowed to hurt others because of their selfish and sometimes cruel actions.
People have been warned in writing not to idolize famous people, politicians, entertainers, scholars, false religious leaders and anyone who thinks they are wise in all ways of humans.
Yahweh Elohim has provided humans with a wonderful world in which to live, but the scriptures have revealed Yahweh is not happy with sinful humans who willfully disobey his laws resulting in harm to others.
Yahweh also has revealed in the scriptures how wonderful life in his coming Kingdom will be. There will be no wars, cheating or arrogant, selfish people in his Kingdom.
1 Cor 2:6-9
6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”—
NIV
It is a matter of life or death, people must learn and obey the laws of Yahweh Elohim, or they are sinners destined to never harm anyone else ever again.
